JUST IN: Jerry Jones Issues Warning To NFL Over Anthem Protests

As the National Football League’s 2017 Week 7 wound down, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke about the anthem protests which have spread throughout the league. Jones says that the league is suffering “negative” consequences over the continuing protests.

“There is no question,” Jones told The Dallas Morning News on Sunday. “There is no question the league is suffering negative effects from these protests:”

Jones has spoken out several times this season about the continued protests, and it is clear he is no fan.

At the end of September, Jones said that he thinks the national anthem is not the right time to mount protests against the country.

“I do not think the place to express yourself in society is as we recognize the American flag and all the people that have made this great country,” Jones said in an interview with Fox Business Network.

“That’s not the place to do anything other than honor the flag and everybody that’s given up a little for it,” he added.

By October, Jones was incensed enough with the anthem protests that he exclaimed that his team would stand for the anthem or they would not play. It was a statement that drew much criticism by the players union and several civil rights groups.

Indeed, the NAACP accused Jones of attempting to violate his players’ rights.

Despite Jones’ proclamations, though, on Sunday Cowboys defensive end David Irving raised the militant black power fist during the anthem at Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Thus far it doesn’t appear that Irving has suffered any consequences at the hands of the team’s owner.

I cannot believe how little I care about the NFL anymore. For decades I planned my Sunday around the 1:00pm, 4:00pm and night game whenever that started. Good job Kaepernick, Bennett and your followers. The NFL should do whatever it takes to cancel all contracts (chapter 11, bankruptcy, etc) and shut it down for a year or two. After an avalanche of foreclosures, repossessions, and mansion yard sales by these “slaves”, standing for the anthem will seem like not such a big sacrifice considering the sacrifices made by those who serve and defend this country. Making this bullshit about race is a disgrace. Football has long been known to bring EVERYONE on the team as a cohesive unit (*Terrell Owens) who consider themselves bonded with a brother-like love. Take a good look at the city of Detroit. Going down the same road.

Goodell never served our country, he has no idea what Patriotism is.

I am a Desert Storm veteran and I will never watch or support the NFL. I will not watch it, I will not purchase the merchandise of the NFL or there sponsors, and I have little respect for those that do. I am 100% against arrogant, spoiled, overpaid, anti-American Punk’s that spit on me, other veterans, and our great nation and flag. People have died for their freedom and these people have absolutely no respect for them or what they stood for. Boycott the NFL forever! God Bless America!

Thank you for your service! After hearing from veterans that you support the boycott I am confused… The flag and the anthem means more to me now than it ever has. As I get older, the more patriotic I’ve become and although I love my football as much as anyone I love my country more… again thank you for your service 😊❤️🇺🇸

Thank you for your service! With his protest I have seen many veterans in support of it… Which to me is stunning! Over the years I have been become more patriotic than ever and although I love my football I love my country more… Again thank you for your service! 😊❤️🇺🇸

Jerry should take it a step farther and say that anyone on an opposing team that does not stand will be escorted out of the stadium by security!
